Karmic Debt

Within seconds of me returning to the office and getting an accusing-questioning stare from Rick, my phone rings.

“Hold that reproachful thought.” I wink at him and check my phone. It’s Linda, so I answer. “Wimsey.”

“We have another weird one,” she says. “Would you mind coming out here to have a look?”

“Sure. We got a few minutes.” I give Rick a ‘follow me, we gotta go’ nod. “Where are you?”

She gives me an address in Eastside, a little south of Lions Park. “On the way.”

“What’s up?” Rick stands and pulls his shoulder holster on.

“Linda’s at another crime scene with ‘occult overtones.’” I frown.

“Why do you look annoyed?”

“Because I thought we dealt with the problem… at least, I am fairly sure we did. If dark entities are continuing to kill people, it escalates the situation from dangerous to a whole bunch of four-letter words.”

“Ack.”

“You can say that again.”
